As long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with music. I still remember listening to old Beatles albums when I was younger, and being blown away by their sound. As a boy I experimented with tape recorders, doing mock interviews with bands, and trying to sing. Eventually I tried my hand at playing the trombone, but never really picked it up. During the 80’s my heroes were the many fashionable synthesizer bands. My grandmother was always very supportive of being involved with music, as she helped me to buy my first synthesizer back in the mid 80s. From there, my interests grew in anything related to music.

During high school, friends of mine and I formed a band and made our own tapes. I also continued working with synthesizers and drum machines to make my own music, something I still do to this day. While attending college from 1985 – 1989, I became a radio DJ, something I enjoyed immensely. At times I was asked to DJ parties or to mix tapes and CDs for parties, as I became known as “Rockin’ Rog”.

After college my favorite pastime was to go to CD stores and find new bands or artists that no one had heard before, and turn people on to new music. I spent lots of money over the years expanding my CD collection to well over 500 – 600 CDs. Eventually, I realized that I could turn my love of music into something that fed my love of entertaining and seeing others have fun. Encouraged by both friends and family (because of their knowledge of my love of music and of being of in front of crowds), I formed Taylor Tunes in late 2001.

My name is Roger Taylor, owner and DJ of Taylor Tunes. My wife (who I married in 1994), Rebecca, and I have two sons. We have lived in the Ormond Beach/Daytona area since 1999 , having grown up in Miami and lived in various locations including Tampa, Denver, and Tulsa. I am currently a contract consultant who works on various projects related to databases. My background also includes 13 years as an officer in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve.

My mission statement for Taylor Tunes is:
To provide professional grade service for your event to ensure its success. If you decide to hire me as your DJ, you will be hiring a classy and professional emcee/DJ with professional sound equipment, lighting and a professional attitude. I am never crude or rude, and will ensure that your guests have fun. Your guests do not want to hear a bunch of bad jokes or see my air guitar: I put the spotlight on whomever the party is for, be it a wedding or birthday party. I will meet with you in advance of the event to ensure all details are planned out in advance including the order of events, special requests, and any songs that are required. If we do not have a particular song, we will get it (provided the request is made at least a week from the event). For weddings, I ensure I orchestrate all aspects of the wedding with the caterer, photographer, pastor etc. I am solely committed to partnering with you to ensure a successful event.
